 Lassen Senior Services oversees four sites:

Our four nutrition sites serve hot, nutritionally balanced lunches for a $3.00 donation for persons 60 years of age and over at 12:00 noon.  We would appreciate a day's notice if you plan to have lunch at any of our sites.  Non-Seniors are also welcome, but must pay a $6.00 fee.

All four nutrition sites deliver meals to homebound Seniors who are confined to their homes due to physical reasons or the inability to drive. The Susanville Site provides frozen meals for the weekends.  Last year we served 17,229 homebound meals  Not only do our drivers deliver meals, they also provide social contact and note any changes or absences of the client, then report to their nutrition site to follow up.

The Susanville, Big Valley, and Westwood sites have vans (some equipped with wheelchair lifts) to pick up Seniors and bring them into the nutrition sites for lunch.  They also take them to medical appointments, shopping, banking, and other necessary stops within the driver's working time.  Donations are appreciated for this service.
 Elmer drives our medical van to Reno twice a week on Tuesday at 10:00am and Thursday he can leave earlier to accommodate early appointments.  Seniors will be picked up at their homes and taken to their destination and back again.  A $25.00 suggested donation is appreciated.  Please call the Susanville office to reserve a space. 

Big Valley makes medical and shopping trips to Alturas, Redding, and Klamath Falls once a week.  Please call the Big Valley nutrition site to reserve space.

The Mt Lassen Transport, an independant carrier, makes trips on Tuesday and Thursday transporting  people to and from Red Bluff.  They stop here at the Senior Center at 2:00pm.  They also schedule special charter trips for Seniors.  Call 1-800-427-9553.  Or visit their website:  www.mtlassentransit.com.

Senior Legal Services are provided by appointment by calling 1-888-201-7674 for assistance.  They will set up appointments for all four nutrition sites.

HICAP offers help with Medicare Part D and Medicare overview for new beneficiaries.  Please call their office at1-800-434-0222 to set up an appointment.

The Lassen Council on Aging Representative is responsible for the USDA-EFAP and Farmer's Market food distribution for Lassen County.  Call 530-257-4884 for times and locations.

We provide general information for Senior support groups, benefits, death and dying, health care, housing and facilities, medical equipment, lifeline information and discounts in the form of brochures and pamphlets.

A Health Fair is usually held at the Senior Center every October with various local agencies.

The Senior Club meeting is held the 2nd Wednsday of each month.

The Lassen Senior Services Board meeting is the 2nd Thursday of each month and we invite anyone to attend who is interested in our program.

We provide free Farmer's Market Cupon Books to low income Seniors during the summer season.  Call the Susanville office for details.

We operate the county taxi cupon program for seniors - $1.75 one-way.

Tai Chi class is every Monday and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30am.  Very informal.  It is instructor-led on VCR and we chat over coffee before and after.

A Senior Computer Class is provided by a Lassen Community College instructor every Friday during the Fall and Spring Semesters.  The beginner class is from 9:00 to 11:00am.  The intermediate class is from 1:00 to 3:00pm.

We have guest speakers during the lunch hour discussing different topics such as Reverse Mortgage, Food Stamps and Senior community and assisted living.

We recognize monthly birhdays with a special menu, small gift and sometimes special entertainment.

We have an ongoing Recycling Program to help with LSS expenses.  Bring your CA redemption aluminum cans, glass and plastic bottles to our recycling containers outside the lunchroom during working hours.  Thank you.
